Ron Davidson
Arkie Mallard Calls was founded by Ron Davidson after his retirement as a
Timberland Manager with International Paper in 2001. Ron spent his 35 year
career working with timber and native hardwoods. Ron is an avid hunter and
fisherman. It was a perfect fit that Ron would become a duck call maker with his
love of duck hunting, hardwood timber and fine craftsmanship. His primary
influences were Mark Smith, professional pool cue maker and Terry Williams,
wildlife artist.
Chad and Missy Caldwell
Missy (Melissa) Caldwell is the daughter of Ron Davidson and Chad Caldwell is
Missy’s husband. Chad has spent his career with Georgia Pacific also in the
timber industry. Chad is an avid hunter. Chad and Missy were trained in every
aspect of call making by Ron for a couple of years prior to Ron’s full
retirement.
There is no change in the process, equipment, specifications, designs, or
quality now that Ron has passed the gavel to the next generation. It’s just
wonderful that Chad and Missy were interested and lived close to continue
without a hitch. Chad and Missy live within seeing distance of Ron and they are
actually working together during the transition.
About the Calls
They are so unique! They are slightly larger than most calls to accommodate the
carving. We call them presentation calls since they can be personalized and
given as gifts or awards. They are great for the collector as well as the
hunter.
We have made call inserts and we have used a great Arkansas call maker as a
source to purchase the inserts. We now outsource all the insert construction to
the 1997 Worlds Champion duck caller. We just can’t match the consistency with
the wood inserts that he can make with poly acrylic. We have several duck
hunting guides purchasing our calls. We also have one competitor using an Arkie
Mallard Call in the Junior Worlds Championships in Stuttgart, Arkansas. He
placed third in the competition.
Any feature of the engraving can be changed at no additional fee. In addition to
the new owner's name, We can add a company name, logo or a hunting club name.
The only limitation is space on the surface of the call. These personalized
calls are great for a business to give to customers or employees as promotional
gifts or awards. |
